No Gettysburg this year :(

Karen and I decided to forgo the trip to Gettysburg again this year.  Last year it was the kitchen nightmare, this year it's timing.  We couldn't work out the timing and logistics with work and things going on around the house to get ready for AZ.  I'm kinda bummed, yet I'm excited at the same time because we are working on some things that may have a big impact on this blog in the future! We won't spill the beans, but we have some cool things planned for AZ and elsewhere this winter and maybe even a bigger announcement sometime next year! 2020 has been a disappointment to a almost everyone and especially to those that love to travel.  It's encouraging to see the surge of new RV owners out there learning to love the lifestyle we've embraced.  If you are new to RV camping Welcome!  If not, remember to be patient and help out the new guys, you were in that boat before.   Happy travels!  Be Safe!  Wear a Mask!  Don't take candy f...

There and back again....

We had a great two weeks in Michigan.  It was nice to visit family and friends although extremely hectic since I only took 1 day off during the time.  It seems we were constantly busy, going places to visit people, having people stop by, or driving.  Still it was a good time. Plans from here?  Well, we've decided to cancel our annual Gettysburg trip again.  This time it seems that there is just too much to do in preparation to leave again for AZ, so we've decided to stick around.  The Covid would limit what we can safely do too much for us to go this year. We will however, still be making our trip back to Michigan in October, immediately followed by our return trip to AZ!  More to come as we get closer. Sunset behind us lights up the tops of the trees Puppy Tax.  No it's not ours.  My Buddy Shannon and his family just got this cutie.  She's adorable.

Crazy World

I can't believe it's almost August and time to start accelerating our plans for heading back to AZ for the winter.  We have the campground booked starting November 1st and that seems both far away and right around the corner at the same time.  Of course with all that is going on right now it makes planning a little more challenging, but we are forging ahead. We've found traveling in an RV to be probably one of the safer ways to go especially on long trips.  Here are a couple of reasons why we like the RV for travel during a pandemic. 1.  Gotta Go?  Use the trailer! - Those long drives are often punctuated with stops for fuel and those stops almost always involve someone using the bathroom.  If you travel with an RV you have your own bathroom and you don't have to risk exposing yourself to the maskless horde.  Just jump in the trailer and use the facilities while the tank is topping off. 2.  Hungry?  Use the trailer! - Fuel stops also provide ...

Missing Chappy

Image
It's not even been two entire weeks and I miss Chappy.  Since we took him out to the summer campground I've been really wanting to go out there and this long holiday weekend is the perfect time. The site that we were put at is very nice.  It has a deck that was made by the last residents and it works perfectly for us.  We'll be heading out there after I get done with work and I can't wait to sit on the deck and enjoy the fire pit tonight with a cold beer and maybe my pipe.

A camping we will go!

Restrictions here in Ohio are being relaxed and our New Old campground is opening up for seasonal campers.  We plan on taking Chappy out there this weekend and maybe spending a night.  We used to keep our old camper out at this place when the kids were still at home.  We didn't get the same spot because it would be a pain to pull Chappy in and out when we have a couple of trips planned for this summer.  The annual cost is less than half of what the place we parked him last year and I think the rules are much more sane, the people a little more down to earth, and it's familiar too. Here are some pictures from the old "New" campground from a few years back.

Won't miss Michigan, but I'll miss the people.

We're into our last week in Michigan now that we've arranged for grocery help from family and friends to assist Karen's Mom.  We had a surprisingly sunny and pleasant day yesterday, but that did little to relieve the sinus/allergy issues that I've had since we left AZ. I've got mixed feelings about returning to Ohio because it means that our first AZ winter adventure is coming to an end, but our plans for this summer and fall are still developing.  We'll definitely be back in Michigan for a week or two, but we'd also like to return to Harpers Ferry, maybe a trip into NY state.  Who knows for sure with all that is going on around us. I'll have to post updated pictures of the house when we get back so you can see how all of the reconstruction worked out.  I'll update again soon.
