Mini Movement

Heard from the insurance and we should be able to have work started on the house soon.  Finally.  Hopefully more to come soon.

Back home again

Adventures don't just happen when you are travelling for fun.  My trip to Mexico for work had it's share of interesting happenings last week. It started with my plane from Houston leaving the gate only to return again due to a brake light.  They put us on another plane and by the time we arrived in Mexico, made it through customs and then to the Hotel it was around 1:00 AM.  The trip back was crazier.  Due to the tropical storm dumping rain all over Houston out flight got canceled and we had to re-book out of Mexico city, two hours away.  We got up at 5AM, rode to mexico city, and flew into Newark where my flight was again delayed to Cleveland.  I finally made it home around 11 PM.  Long travel days, for sure. It was worth it though.  We accomplished a lot while we were down there and I got to see some things that were pretty awesome.

Mexico

I'm in Mexico for work this week.  I left the house at 6 AM EST and didn't make it to the hotel until around 1AM EST.  The plane had issues and we had to go back to the gate and get a new one.  This was something that I've come to expect from United. I'll be pretty busy while I'm here so I won't be updating much this week if at all.  Sorry.

So this is what Limbo looks like

...if there was such a thing as Limbo I think we are stuck in it.  The kitchen is STILL torn up and we are STILL waiting for the insurance company to give the go ahead so that work can even get STARTED.  I can say that I'm sufficiently tired of eating out. I'm not tired of eating out because I dislike eating out, I'm tired of it because: I like to cook!  Nobody makes food like you like to eat it except you.   Limited choices.  Don't get me wrong, we live in an area with a TON of restaurants around us, but after a few months, we've exhausted the list and hit many of them multiple times.  We could go further out for some new choices, but after working for 10 hours, well you get the idea. It's expensive.  I can cook a great meal at home for both of us for under 10 bucks, but the minute we step out it's at least $25 bucks if we aren't doing fast food.  Insurance will kick us back some of that money though. It's not healthy.  I think...

Chappy's Back

Chappy is now back at home!  We brought him home early since work is keeping me busy and we were not sure when we'd have time to do it next.  I have to say, it is good to have him back here and this time will give me an opportunity to do a few of the projects I've been thinking of before we start heading out for the long haul. One small thing we noticed when picking him up though is that one of his tires was exceptionally low.  I'm going to have to keep an eye on it and maybe even take it in to have it looked at or replaced if it keeps going low.  It is better to catch it while he was sitting though instead of going down the road. If we can ever get the insurance company moving and actually have people in to work on our kitchen and basement, then we may have to think about moving him to Michigan early, but for now he's home and I'm happy. The lake campground was a good experience overall.  I'm glad we had him out there because it did make it easier to get ...

Hard Labor...day

Labor day is past now and I'm feeling it a bit this morning.  We spent the bulk of the day helping Katia and Tony put in fence posts.  I'm just glad nobody caught it on film.  If it was widely known that I participated in manual labor the requests would come pouring in and my poor old body couldn't take that. Their fence is coming along nicely, but it is going to take longer than initially anticipated I think.  The bulk of the work seems trivial on the face of it but is much more daunting when you get started.  It will be nice when it is done though. I'm thinking about moving Chappy back to the house this coming weekend.  Since he has to be out of the park by the end of the month and we can't get back to Michigan soon enough because of my travel schedule for work, it seems best to bring him home and just use the time he's here to load up and prepare for the long trip coming up.  It will make it easier for us to get things put together for sure....
