I called it!

We are back in Michigan.  We didn't make it in time to see our dying friend and we are disappointed but glad we made the decision to try.  It's sad that she is gone but good that she is not suffering any longer. We stayed overnight in Tennessee on our way back and the weather was beautiful.  It was also beautiful when we woke up that morning to finish our drive.  The sun was shining and the temps were in the 70's.  We hit the Ohio border and it got cloudy, cold and rainy. Michigan is still cloudy, cold, and rainy.  You can add windy to that list as well as it blew so hard yesterday that the power went out.  Luckily I have the little generator with us and we were able to run off of that until the power came back on.  I really love this little generator.  It's light, starts on one pull, can be "teamed" with another one to double the output and it's pretty quiet.  If your looking for one here is the one we have. I'm back to work again...

Heading back up North?

So, Karen and I were talking and with her Mom worried about whats going on and being alone, and with another person in our extended family terminally ill with hospice, we've decided to make a run for it. I'm really not looking forward to the cold, rain, and lack of sun and with the virus crap we may be spending almost all of our time in the trailer but we've waited and watched and we think it's time.  We'll be in Michigan about two weeks ahead of schedule and we will probably spend around a month there.  I've taken tomorrow off so we can start our trip with just an overnight in Tennesee so we should arrive sometime in the afternoon on Saturday. It certainly is not ideal, and isn't what we had planned, but it makes sense. Best wishes to all of you, stay safe and I'll update when we get up north!

Still in Florida

We made the move to my Cousin's house over the weekend.  It was crazy.  With work demands and our tight schedule for moving the two clashed for me on Saturday and I'm lucky that I am part of such a great team of professionals that some of them were able to give me the break in the day that I needed to get moved. It's really quiet here, and aside from intermittent web connectivity issues we've been having a decent time despite the craziness.  I took some time to play cards with Cousin Luke's son last night and it was nice to forget about work, viruses, and crazy people for a while and just live life. I've stopped watching any news except for 30 minutes in the morning and night just to check on the status of places where family is and try to plan to resume the next leg of our journey.  We'll see how it all shakes out. In the meantime, it doesn't pay to sit and worry.  Keep busy and make time to just enjoy life. Me riding my Grandpa's old John...

Long time between posts, lots going on.

So we are in Florida and into our second week here already.  We've cancelled our plans to go to GA next week and will be moving Chappy over to my Cousins house this weekend.  It's still too cold and wet in Michigan to start heading north and we aren't sure if the Government is going to restrict travel even further so we are staying around here where at least we have some family. Now, when I said above that it was still too cold and wet in Michigan, I mean that more from a logistics perspective.  The ground is too muddy/wet to park the trailer at my mother-in-laws place.  Sure we don't want to get cold, but we also don't want to have to keep running out to fill propane tanks either.  With all of this virus crap, we may end up freezing there. Lots of uncertainty right now with this virus.  Best to sit back and see what happens. Stay safe!

Swimming in Houston

Wow!  I forgot just how humid it gets in Houston.  It's only 75 degrees or so today but we are running the air in the trailer to keep from sticking to stuff and keep the dogs happy.  It felt like I was swimming out to the truck after we finished picking up some groceries during my lunch break today. We had a great night out last night.  We went to a local cajun place just south of here and the food and the music was terrific.  Not sure how much site seeing we will be doing because I'm working all week, but so far so good. Eating dinner with family! We splurged and had some dessert too. Yes, of course I had a Bloody Mary!
